The unu City Tape series

The two Adrian’s forming the Zurich based DJ duo Adriatique are the first ones in line to produce a mixtape for the ‘unu City Tape’ series. Their background within house and techno has resulted in a 60 minute long dance mix that will take you through the urban life of Zurich.

The unu is a clever combination of innovative technology, timeless aesthetics and urban flair. The City Tape created by Adrian Shala and Adrian Schweizer launched by the start-up company is the beginning of a series of collaborations with talented DJs influencing the city life in their respective cities.

“We have a great love for the city, its culture and we believe that music is an essential part of it. This is why we started our City Tape series in collaboration with amazing local artists. Having Adriatique produce the first one is a true honor and with this vibing mix we can’t imagine a better way to get the unus out on the streets of Zurich” says Elias Atahi, co-founder and CXO.

Despite the similar names, the two DJs come from very different backgrounds - while one honed his musical education with House for the US and Detroit Techno with a preferred location in the studio, the other was deep into European techno straight out of the booth. This combination has since 2008 resulted in a sound that brought them on RA’s list of Top 100 DJs, it was voted Mixmag Mix of the Year and furthermore they created a standout Podcast for BPM.

“For the launch of our dynamic electric scooter in Zurich we found it suitable to team up with a sound that would fit the unu universe and that is why the the Diynamic Music signed DJ duo Adriatique was a perfect match”. says Yasemin Ege Tulay, Head of Marketing.

For what city and who will be behind the production for the second City Tape has not yet been revealed, but Yasemin Ege Tulay spills that it will be in a city in Germany that has a great meaning for unu.

unu combines innovative technology with stylish aesthetics and urban flair. With their first product, the electric scooter with portable batteries launched in 2014, unu delivered for city residents a new mobility solution. City riding with the smart electric scooter means an environmentally friendly and practically noiseless journey.

The firm’s homepage unumotors.com allows the unu buyer to pick a configuration from six body colours and three options for the seat to personalize the electric scooter. The unu will be delivered directly to the customer’s front door. The affordability of the unu – from 1,699 Euro in Germany - is thanks to an e-mobility business model new in the automotive industry. With running costs of 70 Cent / 100 km the unu is also the most economical way of being mobile in the city.

The unu electric scooter is fitted with the KERS technology (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) familiar from Formula 1 race cars – an application of the brakes sends energy back to replenish the batteries. The batteries are portable and can be recharged at any 230 V power outlet. In several cities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland anyone interested in experiencing this innovative technology for themselves can sign up for a test drive. These are organized through a strategically implemented network of unu Pioneers. In 2016 further European cities will be added to the list of those where an unu test drive is offered.

Since 2015 the unu crew is co-located in the Factory Berlin complex, a centre for start-up enterprises which is also the home of Twitter, Pinterest, SoundCloud and Freelectics. The young firm is expanding rapidly and now has a staff of almost forty. In addition there are over fifty unu Pioneers deployed to arrange test drives for potential customers.
